SWGC STUDENTS WITH FUTURE ON THEIR PALMS!

South West Gauteng College took a lead again and it was not for the last time! This time around, they became the first public college in the country to put learning material on the tablet platform and giving these to all their Level 4 NC (V) students! on the 14th of February 2014. So, the 14th of February was much more than Valentine’s Day!
On this day a historic event was held to hand out the tablets in the presence of ZTE, the number 3 digital / telephony company in the world who had custom-made the tablets for the college, as part of their partnership with the college. The Level 4 National Certificate (Vocational) (NC(V) exit students were the first to touch the tablets in a four year pilot project, which will culminate in all all the college’s students discarding textbooks for tablets by 2018.
We can no longer just twinkle to the fact that now is the moment of truth to everyone to acknowledge that the college under the Leadership of Mr Dan Nkosi (the Principal) is bent on ‘leading and leading and leading…’, in line with its declared ‘catch-us-if-you-can’ challenge. But this goes beyond just putting the college’s students on the information and knowledge economy highway, it is also one of the college’s contribution to the the country’s green economy strides. The college campuses are already networked with Wifi access, which means for the college’s students the ‘classroom is no longer limited to the classroom’.
“The initial plan was also to extend the pilot to the N6 students, but publishers were found not to have the material in ready e-format for the N6,” Management said. In the words of the Evangelist, TB Joshua, “the best is yet to come”. “This is a pilot which the college is determined to progressively extend to all students of the College, starting with the 300 NC (V) Level 4 students this year and later include N6 in 2015, followed by NC (V) Level 3 students and by 2018, the college will have banished hard-copy textbooks and heavy bags on the shoulders of students”, the Principal said.
WHAT MORE TO SAY THAN:
SWGC, PERIOD! ENOUGH SAID!
THE BRAND OF CHOICE FOR ALL WHO WANT TO LEARN!
