South West Gauteng TVET College, George Tabor Campus Student Support Services organised a Student Induction session for new students from the 4th until 8th March 2021 at George Tabor Campus’s (main hall). The sessions were attended by the Campus Management team, Senior Lecturers, Lecturers, New Business Development Unit and the SRC.
The Induction was conducted by the Student Support Team with the majority of students attendance. COVID-19 rules and regulations were adhered to by ensuring that different courses / programmes attended on dissimilar days.
Topics were established and delivered amongst students, highlighting the importance of students support, oriented and inducted in order to reach their true potential.
Topics covered were:
- Course fees and implications of non –payment
- Assessments, Promotion and Progression
- Student Support Services
- Psycho-Social Support Services
- SRC, Student Governance and Code of Conduct.
- New Business Development unit role
To ensure continued information dissemination between the campus returning students and SRC, the Student Support Services organised an Information sharing session on NSFAS Mobile wallet which also took place in the main hall for all returning students to capacitate them on the new system.
The interaction went well though it was urgently organised by the office, providing quantifiable information to the students in attendance. The Student Support Office working hand in hand with the Campus SRC came to a resolution to hold the sessions weekly for all students in order to alleviate any miscommunication with regards to NSFAS related matters.
